Having led the Security Institute through five years of exponential growth, Rick Mounfield MSc CSyP RISC FSyI chose to return to the security consultancy sector, joining Optimal Risk Group as a Director in 2022.

His role is multi-dimensional. One focus is Optimal Risk’s Strategic growth and the other is helping its clients manage security risk. These clients are multinational companies, predominantly in the technical innovation sectors and critical national infrastructure, with CSOs that value the peer-to-peer partnership that helps them consider diverse risk management strategies.

After five years of Influencing the UK Security Industry with the Security Institute and more recent application of vast knowledge gained in that five-year period, Rick’s experience and practical perspectives provide the infrastructure for a conference that will challenge, harness and enhance thought leadership.

Nigel Brown is an acclaimed professional in the security industry, celebrated for his exceptional contributions and numerous accolades. With a distinguished career that includes serving as a Counter Terrorism Security Advisor (CTSA) in the North West Counter Terrorism Unit, he has been at the forefront of safeguarding critical infrastructure and mitigating complex security risks.

Currently, Nigel serves as the Head of Corporate Security and Organisational Resilience at the BBC, where he leads strategic initiatives to protect one of the world’s most prominent media organisations. In this role, he oversees comprehensive security frameworks, strengthens operational resilience, and ensures the safety of personnel, assets and operations across a global landscape.

Frank Cannon

Senior Consultant, Optimal Risk Group

Frank is a self-professed security pracademic, blending his academic knowledge with its practical application. As a curious Chartered Security Professional  (CSyP) with a protective mindset spanning 40-years, he applies his analytical thinking and thirst to understand why the adversaries attack and to help identify affordable and proportionate solutions to reduce the risk. 

His altruistic endeavour is to raise the awareness of those who live, work, or play in our rural communities and to highlight the benefits that protective security has when safeguarding people, property, and our way of life.

Frank is a former Deputy Chair and Interim CEO of The Security Institute and, as a senior consultant with Optimal Risk Group, he actively participates in numerous security industry bodies and regularly advocates the value of behavioural based security programmes.

Anne Marie Chebib

UK Crowd Management Association (UKCMA) Chair

Anne Marie Chebib is a crowd management practitioner and consultant for the special events industry, looking after people who look after people, in all roles. Annie’s specialisms include strategic planning, agency liaison, and management of projects and personnel.

She represents the UKCMA on numerous consultation committees and is currently working on a cross-industry initiative ‘Crowd Management Good Practice. Supporting Documentation for Performance and Licensed Spaces in the United Kingdom’ which is due to launch in spring 2024.

Jennifer Ciolfi

Group Director of Security,  Global Switch

Jennifer has spent the last 25 years working in Physical Security. She worked across a wide variety of industries, from Government of Canada to Academia to Tech Industry. Jennifer has an MSc in International Security and Risk Management and PG Dip. in Terrorism and Political Violence.

Currently she is a doctoral student at the University of Portsmouth and the Group Director, Security at a global data centre company.

Dawn Dines is the founder of Stamp Out Spiking. She has been campaigning against this crime since 2004. Stamp Out Spiking was officially established in 2019 and registered as a charity in 2023.
 
Dawn is passionate about empowering young people to keep themselves safe by running educational workshops on alcohol & drug awareness, knife crime, anti-social behaviour, cyber-bullying and internet safety. Dawn has also worked with local authorities, supporting children in care and in secure units.

Bhanu Goud

With more than 25 years of security industry experience, Bhanu Goud is Director of Fides Integrated Security, which provides security guarding and consulting services.

Bhanu has consulted on and delivered prestigious and complex projects in the rail sectorthrough to iconic heritage sector customers such as The British Library. As a highly respected commercial security expert, Bhanu identifies security risks and threats through an in-depth risk analysis specific to each client. 

Bhanu is also the Founder of end user security interest group – Public Space Security (PSS), which provides a platform for senior executives to share knowledge and assist each other in identifying the risk mitigation strategies, operations and electronic systems best suitable to their individual organisations.

Philip Ingram MBE

Chief Executive Officer, Grey Hare Media

Philip Ingram MBE BSc MA is a journalist specialising in the security, counter terror, cyber, defence and intelligence arenas. His knowledge is built from a long and senior military career as an intelligence and security officer and strategic planner with business experience at board level starting in the steel industry and now the media industry.  

Philip runs his own media company, Grey Hare Media, and specialises in delivering informed content.

Philip is frequently on Sky News, Talk TV, BBC TV, GB News and other global networks. He has presented INTERPOL World TV in Singapore in 2015, 2017 and in 2019 and has been part of a number of documentaries for various channels.

Strategic Fraud Prevention and Behavioural Lead, UK Finance

With a background in law enforcement, intelligence, counter terrorism and later finding a passion in cybercrime and fraud, Paul now works in a joint partnership role as the Strategic Fraud Prevention and Behavioural Lead for UK Finance and City of London Police, assisting in the coordination of the Economic and Cyber Police Headquarters. 

Samantha Newbery

Dr Samantha Newbery

Reader in International Security, University of Salford

Dr Samantha Newbery is a senior academic in international security. Her publications include Terrorist Informers in Northern Ireland (Oxford University Press, forthcoming (2024)), and Interrogation, Intelligence and Security (Manchester University Press, 2015).  

Dr Newbery also provides consultancy in intelligence and risk analysis, and training in security and counter-terrorism. She is on the editorial board of the Close Protection and Security Journal, the new initiative from the International Protective Security Board that supports professionalisation of the close protection and corporate security industries.

Victoria Hanscomb is the Editor of Security Journal Americas, having joined the title in November 2022. In her role, she regularly collaborates with experts, leading companies and top manufacturers to bring the latest security news and updates emerging from the Americas security industry to professionals in the sector. Victoria particularly enjoys connecting with the sector at industry events and discovering the newest innovations and developments.

She previously held a role as the Editor of a B2B magazine covering the drug discovery and pharmaceutical industries. Victoria has a degree in English and American Literature from the University of Kent, where she realised her love of editing while volunteering for the student news publication.

James Thorpe is a keen writer and researcher who graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2020 with a First Class (BA Hons) Degree in English. Gaining significant experience as Editor of Security Journal UK (SJUK), James was internally promoted to Editor of International Security Journal (ISJ) in 2022.

In his current role, James engages with various businesses, consultants and directors working in a range of disciplines across the global security industry. 

As well as working on the monthly editions of ISJ, James plays a key role in the organisation of the company’s ISJ Leaders in Security Conference which made its successful debut in Dubai in May 2022.
